I’m Here to Break Down Your Riding Difficulties

Helping Your Body, Your Riding And Your Horse!

Horse riding position exercises

Let me give you a proverbial leg up with your riding!

I have been where you are today. The fun times, the eureka moments, the falls, and those confused patches! What do I bring to the table (or stable)? A passion for horses since childhood, and oodles of diverse experience. I speak your language, whether you are:

  • A novice rider at the beginning of your journey,

  • A more experienced rider who isn’t progressing as you would like, or maybe feel stuck in a rut.

  • Advanced riders, I can give you clarity with those subtle refinements.

  • Mature riders, it’s never too late to make changes.

  • Injured riders, I am most certainly here for you. To get you back to enjoying your time in the saddle.

  • Maybe you have conditions that make your time in the saddle difficult. I’m here to help you!

  • Finally, maybe you can’t ride at the moment or can’t ride as much as you’d like. I can help you too.

There is one principle that should not be abandoned, the rider must first learn to control themselves before they can control the horse

Improving riding position

I spent years searching for answers, and found something amazing

If you sit in a room full of horse riders, there will seldom be anyone who hasn’t stacked up a few riding injuries (I see you!). Or is a casualty of yard work.

At age 20, I seem to embark on a career of constant injuries! Ruptured ankle ligaments, multiple fractures, torn muscles, neck, shoulder, back pain, and a significant hip injury. Chronic pain inspired my training in human and equine therapy.

My injuries progressed, limiting my walking, making riding painful and affected my health. I began searching for something that conventional therapy did not appear to influence. Restorative exercise gave me my life back, enabling me to achieve things I never thought possible, far surpassing my expectations.

Putting the spotlight on you riders - An easier way forward!

When performing therapy on horses, I have often heard horse owners say. “I look after my horse, but not myself” (usually accompanied by a laugh) Walking off with movement like the tin man!

How we ride influences which parts of the body the horse can use, which shapes their posture. The rider's influence is often overlooked when horses face movement challenges and some lameness issues.

Investing in yourself benefits you (preventing premature wearing of joint, aches and pains, stiffness, restrictions etc), your riding and horse.

I can show you the specific movements your body needs and how they can easily fit into your day. Enhancing body awareness, balance, coordination, mobility, strength and much more!

Sam is such a thorough thoughtful practitioner. She has supported my horses for twenty years and has really made a difference in keeping them sound happy and healthy. Sam has treated myself, my partner and (more importantly) my dogs recently with equally positive results. My partner hasn’t experienced any back pain at all since Sam worked on him with his movement two years ago. She really is a remarkable practitioner.
